A beautiful exhibition called Deep Blue Sea: String of Pearls is on view at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts in San Francisco. Through sculptures, prints, drawings and paintings, this Latino gallery shares space with kindred spirits from the Pacific Islands and west coast. Segment Producer Robynn Takayama met with MCCLA’s Gallery Coordinator Angelica Rodriguez and Samoan American artist Sekio Fuapopo to talk about the artwork and this connection between Latinos and indigenous people from across the Pacific.
This cross cultural contemporary art exhibit that span the west coast and Pacific Islands closes on Friday, September 9. For more information visit missionculturalcenter.org
