– Are you an aspiring grassroots journalist?
– Are you a community organizer who wants to explore how to utilize radio?
– Do you want to learn about radio production, hosting a radio show or doing live interviews?

APEX Express is a weekly magazine-style radio show featuring the voices and stories of Asians and Pacific Islanders from all corners of our community. The show is produced by a volunteer collective of API media makers, djs, and activists and airs each week on KPFA 94.1FM.

We are looking for new members for our team! including experienced radio journalists with production and hosting skills, as well as people interested in learning these skills in a community-based environment.

What being a part of the APEX collective means:

  • Gaining technical skills in grassroots radio journalist
  • Opportunities to interview and meet people on the ground doing political and cultural work
  • Contributing ideas to APEX’s weekly covered topics/issues/events
  • Access to basic radio production equipment
  • Working with an amazing crew of fun, talented, supportive folks!

Expectations/commitments:

  • Minimum 3 month commitment
  • You would start working directly with existing members to build skills (depending on your skill level), with a ramp up to contributing a segment a month and hopefully transitioning into co-hosting and producing a show
  • Attend APEX meetings, which happen every 2-3 months
  • Agree to APEX’s mission statement

If you’re interested in joining our team, please fill out this form to learn about our upcoming training on Saturday, November 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in San Francisco Chinatown.
